I’m getting a strange sense of deja vu. Haven’t we been to this airport? Ridden this metro? Slept in this bed? Been attacked by a T-Rex?

After another early morning flight we arrived back in Athens around 8:50 a.m. Check in time? 1:35 p.m… Dangit. Ah well, I suppose we can do one more great meal at Savvas overlooking the Acropolis. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. Give me some Tabouli and Gyros covered in Tzatziki any day of the week.

At about 1:15 we headed to our place. If we planned it right we will arrive exactly at 1:35 to check-in and sleep. We hopped off the metro at 1:30 and I got service coupled with a new message from our host. The previous guest is late ag checking out and unreachable so he’s not sure when we can check in. Please come to the building and join me upstairs. With no where else to go and no energy left to go there we went up to the fifth floor to meet George. George the AirBNB super host. Our first extended trip to Athens we were unable to meet, despite him trying, so it was nice to finally meet the man upstairs.

We sat on his deck for a little over an hour eating cherries, drinking espresso and talking AirBNB, politics and Athens. It was a lot of fun and when our room was finally ready he led us down carrying our bags in the lift. It is bedtime.

We promised George we’d take him out for dinner on our first stay over, turns out we couldn’t do it until tonight. No worries. He and his friend Michael, who also helps with AirBNB, took us out to a place outside of the city center. Traditional Greek food with an asian twist. Sounds weird? Yeah. Tastes delicious? Ohhhhhh yeah! We ate dinner until late and had a great time talking. What a good way to finish of our trip to Athens. Thanks George for a great time.

But now it’s time for bed, we start our long trek home tomorrow. First stop Copenhagen.

Cheers,
B&B
